Helping people to understand and connect with their bodies; empowering each individual's search for health and grace through attentive, non-invasive touch, education, and positive feedback; supporting each person as their own expert self, and encouraging deeper knowledge and exploration.
Massage combines assessment and deep palpation with the powerful stress relief of full-body relaxation. The effectiveness of therapeutic massage is increased and supported by caring touch and intention. Jess utilizes multiple modalities, including Trigger Point, Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue, Injury Treatment, Sports, Swedish, Lomi Lomi, Thai, Acupressure, Reiki, and Therapeutic Touch, to provide a comprehensive session tailored to each individual's needs at the time of treatment.
Yoga and Movement Therapy
Yoga Therapy is an emerging modality within the Yoga lexicon. In partnership with Movement Therapy it can be used to assess and treat muscular and structural imbalances, to offer home practice tools that can increase range of motion, decrease pain, and decrease chance of injury, and to foster increased internal body awareness, also known as "felt sense" or "internal sensate awareness." Yoga and Movement Therapy is an excellent adjunct for Massage Therapy.
While each session is unique in structure and format, after the intake, most sessions can include breathwork, yoga asana for assessment and therapeutic stretch/strengthening, bodyweight strength exercises, freeform dance to favorite music, energy work, Thai massage, or other simple movement exercises designed to increase body awareness.
Yoga and Movement Therapy can help rehabilitate or manage these situations:
- shoulder and hip injuries and instability
- hip replacements
- increasing efficiency of movement for runners, dancers, skiers, and other athletes
- spinal injuries
- personal yoga practice
- office jobs
- back and neck pain
- retaining mobility, strength, and neuroplasticity for elders

I write articles for my weekly email missive. My three-fold mission for the letter, and in all my work, is as follows:
- To bring ease to individual bodies and to support the creation of a personal body awareness practice through massage and movement therapies.
- To facilitate groups and research the tools of mindfulness and expressive dance to process grief and trauma.
- To promote and contribute to the societal conversation regarding the use of expressive dance as a treatment for mental and emotional health and wellness.

I have been dancing, imagining, and playing all my life. I have always felt called to serve others. Bodywork and movement therapy allow me to serve while pursuing my passion and curiosity about the body and how humanity expresses itself through the body: how, why, in what ways the terrain of the body integrates and communicates the experience of being human. My passion for dance lead me to study dance, sports, and dance/movement therapy, and work with a mentor and somatic psychologist. I graduated from The Evergreen State College in 2007, and from Port Townsend School of Massage in 2008. My somatic and movement practice and theory is informed and supported by ecology, ecopsychology, natural history, and cultural studies. I continue to dance weekly, run, hike, bike, and play. I make art, cook and bake, read avidly, write weekly articles, and take classes in various physical disciplines such as Capoeira Regional or AcroYoga. I trade bodywork with colleagues and with my partner, who is in massage school now and inspires me with his enthusiasm and delight.
